Video Game Reviews of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Customer Review: Only for RPG Gamers
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all, if you are a sports gamer or FPS gamer this game really isn't for you. Its more for people that are fans of RPGs, like Dungeons and Dragons type RPGs. If you are not of that type of gamer don't waste the $[...] bucks for the game. Other than that its a magnificent game. the only problem I had was that the whole adaptive leveling thing is annoying. And the ending is pretty anti-climatic as well. All that build up and then whoosh, it's over. But the game has numerous side quests that can keep you entertained for hours on end. The only thing i have as advice would be to make sure you have a character concept in mind before the game starts. Makes life easier. A good balance of magic, armor wearing, and weapons are good. Try not to specialize. Some parts of the game are pretty difficult if you specialeze in just magic, or being a basher type character.

Customer Review: Oblivion 4 The Elder Scrolls
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this game for my son but I really like it, too! It's one of the best and most interesting video game I've ever played. It's so well made, detailed and complex. One of the best purchases I've ever made! This isn't one of those crappy, overpriced games that you are done playing in a few days. There are so many things to do in this game that it takes a while to get through it all. It's fun to play, too. I also plan on buying Oblivion Game of the Year edition soon.

Customer Review: A good buy for $20. Boring but Fun ?!?!
Summary: 4 Stars

Actually, I'd like to give 3.5 to how much fun the game is.
I'm not going to say much about pros. You can read any 5-star review for that. Let's talk about cons.

The game is a free-roaming, but there are not many enemies to pick a fight with on the world map. That makes the world feels kinda lonely. Leveling up is based on your style of playing. So, some skills would be developed fast while others may not go up at all. This could be bad if you'd like to try different things but couldn't change your play-style that much. And the character levels up so very slow that it could make you feel unrewarding and unaddictive. Some quests are annoying and boring.

But when it's fun, it's fun. And when your skills develop to the significant point, they're fun to use.

You have to really be patient with its sluggishly-slow pace and a weird leveling-up system. This game bored me to tears as much as kept me playing. Fallout 3 is much more well-paced and addictive. So 4 stars for over-all and 3.5 for the fun.

In conclusion, it's slow and has significant boring portions. Still, It's a good RPG to add to your library of games, especially for its price now.

Customer Review: Choose another adventure
Summary: 3 Stars

This game is cool but it takes forever to get going and once you do get going you will wonder where you're at. It's hard to store items and difficult to gain experience. It's fun to walk around exploring the area and finding old caves and fighting enemies. It's even cooler to lock-pick treasure chests and people's houses to go looting. Tedious to find new missions since you have to talk to people, at length, to get information. You can also find youself in way too deep with enemies that can wipe you out with one hit. This is by far the most expansive role-playing feild I've ever encountered. There is too much detail and very little pay-off. Your character's fighting movements are rather stiff and killing an enemy isn't really that gratifying. For a game that has as much depth as this you would expect your character to have the abilty to target body parts with the ability to hack off limbs but you can't. You can conjure up your own potions by picking up random plants. Your character has a ton of attributes but even as they go higher no real change takes place. You may walk or run a bit faster or cast better spells but even those aren't worth wait. With all the fighting games out you would think the fighting system for a game like this would be awesome but it's not. This game reminds me of Wizardy on NES but with all new graphics.

Customer Review: Great Game
Summary: 5 Stars

The game it's self is wonderful. There is so much you can do in this game. It starts you out on a mission and you can choose to accept the mission or to go off on your own and find your own adventures. you can do just about anything your heart desires. This game can and will be enjoyed for hours upon hours. i would recommend this game to anyone.
