Video Game Reviews of Logitech PlayStation 3 Cordless MediaBoard ProCustomer Review: Easy to setup, easy to use Summary: 4 StarsThis keyboard works very well with the PS3. It's easy to set up and easy to use. Since it communicates with the console using Bluetooth technology, it can be used from a distance anywhere in the room and it doesn't occupy any of your USB ports. The keyboard is made specifically for the PS3 and includes the XOtrianglesquare buttons to make navigation easy. The syling of the keyboard also matches the PS3 very well (black & chrome). A must if you spend any time surfing the web with your PS3 or if you've installed a Linux operating system.
Customer Review: nice keyboard. Summary: 4 Starsiam still using this keyboard with my ps3 for chatting it is useful but not very comfortable for my fingers with i use for more that 15 minutes or more . i hope the keys be comfortable as macbook keyboard .
Customer Review: Didn't keep... (tried to use with Mac Mini) Summary: 2 StarsThis is probably the only bluetooth keyboard and trackpad combo option right now. Unfortunately, it was poorly made, and probably has PS3 quality in mind only. But why should that allow the quality to be bad? Ok, I tried to use it with my Mac Mini, but this just felt like a piece of junk (and a key that didn't function well). So I returned it and purchased the Apple Wireless keyboard kit. Logitech could have done so much better but it just seemed like they cheaped out in this case (trying to force people to buy a diNovo?)
Pros:
- It paired with my Mac Mini ok.
- It uses AA batteries (not AAA).
- It has a trackpad.
Cons:
- The keyboard felt cheap and is completely plastic. What do I expect for $80MSRP? (look at the Apple wireless keyboard kit, it is so nice, possibly better than my regular keyboards)
- The battery cover felt filmsy.
- Left click under the track pad didn't work unless you pressed the button right in the center. Right click didn't have this problem.
- Trackpad was too small to be useful.
- Trackpad is on the side, but it should be placed below the keyboard, like a laptop. The reason is that you need to move your hands too much if you are typing and mousing a lot. Also, having it on the side may make you bend your wrist in a weird way causing some stress / pain.
- Trackpad was too recessed.
- Power switch felt filmsy.
Customer Review: Awesome keyboard for my netbook Summary: 4 StarsI got this keyboard to pair with my ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9.5 Hour Battery Life, because I wanted a bluetooth keyboard with a trackpad. The only other good one on the market is the Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard (Black), which is great but too expensive. This one was in my price range.
The black plastic construction of the Mediaboard Pro isn't the sturdiest, but it is well put together. The keys respond well and are comfortable to type on. And the look is uncannily similar to my Asus.
Along with Acer V193WB 19" LCD Monitor the netbook now powers a second webstation in my bedroom. (With DVR access via Beyond TV Link :-)
The only reason this product doesn't get 5 stars is I wish there were a PC version. The lack of a start button is odd, though replacing it with left and right mouse click buttons is a good tradeoff. The inability to program other buttons is more annoying. As far as I can tell Logitech SetPoint does not support this keyboard. And when I switch between booting into Windows 7 RC or Windows XP, the bluetooth connection has to be re-paired.
Customer Review: Works Perfectly with Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 Summary: 4 StarsI purchased the Mediaboard Pro recently with the intention of installing Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 on my PS3 and using this as my keyboard and mouse. Some YDL 6.1 instructions indicate that you must manually pair it with the system [in Linux] to get it to work... on my first boot into Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3, the Mediaboard Pro just worked (once Bluetooth loaded) with no configuration.
This keyboard fits the bill perfectly for my needs; it's nice to be able to sit as far away as my dining room and surf the internet on my 60" TV. If I were rating the Mediaboard Pro solely on its Linux usefulness, I would give it five stars, but since it would be better for it to be fully functional in the PS3 XMB (it lacks the "shoulder" and "PS" buttons), I gave it four stars instead.
I read in a few places that users with Ubuntu on their PS3s had trouble getting the Mediaboard Pro to work properly on their systems, so if you're starting from scratch and want to use Linux and this keyboard, go with Yellow Dog. Note that you still must use a USB keyboard and mouse to install YDL.
