Remote works just fine, but i dont use it. I only use the IR dongle so I can use my Logitech Harmony remote, dang sony with their bluetooth remotes.Customer Review: Short Range Problem? I have Solution.

The Remote itself has a very limited short range. The IR Dongle works just fine with my Harmony 880 (except that it used to skip too fast with the direction controls which there is some manual fine tuning you can do in the Harmony software to fix that.)
The problem I had with the Remote is that it would only work from about 6 feet away or closer which is pretty dumb considering it is a remote control.
I took off the battery cover, removed the batteries, and removed 2 small screws. Then on one side I pried open the case. The clips that hold this remote together are so flimsy that some of them will break. Once I had the remote apart I could see the IR-LED was bent way down. It looked like a really crappy solder job. I just bent the LED approximately straight and put the unit back together. The couple of broken clips didn't seem to matter and now the remote actually works fine. So I use this remote in the bedroom and the Harmony 880 in the living room and all is well.
Just beware, if your remote comes in with a really crappy range send it back and get a new one... or if you are outside of warranty anyway then open the thing yourself and bend the IR back into place. I still have to be careful about how I aim the remote, but at least I can do it from across the room now.

The remote is pretty good, but I returned mine... Here is why...
The remote does everything as advertised, but I planned on using mine with my Harmony remote. The problem is that this adapter will not allow you to turn the PS3 on and off. I later found that Amazon sells a Harmony adapter for the PS3 which does everything PLUS turns it on and off.

Now what was Sony thinking when they didn't do an IR remote with the PS3? Rather than go with the standard bluetooth PS3 remote, I went with the Nyko instead. And you know what, it does it's job!
Pluses
* Easy to install, just pop the USB dongle in
* Inexpensive compared to Sony remote
* Gives you all necessary blu ray controls in small form factor
* Well-designed, looks like the PS3 with black and gray colors
Minuses
* May take a couple of button pushes to activate connection
* Another gadget on your coffee table!
Overall, I'd recommend this Nyko remote, just make sure you understand what you're getting and what you're giving up...
