Video Game Reviews of PS3 Blu Wave RemoteCustomer Review: Best solution for universal IR remotes with the PS3 Summary: 5 StarsThis is everything it's reviewed to be by other PS3 users. The single best way to get your universal IR remote to work with the PS3. I personally use a Logitech Harmony 880 with this and it's flawless. For my use the *ONLY* thing this cannot do is power the PS3 on. However, it *CAN* power the PS3 off by adding a custom power off series of: stop-left-left-left-left-left-left-left-left-up-up-up-up-X-enter (at least I think that's what I did). That ensures that it stops whatever playback that might be happening (video/music streaming) and can arrow through the XMB and power the PS3 off. It cannot power it off if a game is left running. Lego Star Wars is the only game I own that complains about not having Controller 1 available and sometimes you have to manually reassign the PS3 game controllers to Controller 1. However, my 7 year old mastered doing that on the 2nd try, so it's not a show stopper.
Customer Review: Cheap fix to use a universal remote on your PS3. Summary: 5 StarsThis this is a great way to use your universal remote (harmony 550 in my case) to control your PS3. Most people that have complaints about this simply don't know how to adjust the settings in their universal remote software. I'm on my 8th 550 that I have programmed for friends using this dongle. I have somehow become the harmony 550 guru for my friends. The standard settings for it in the harmony software are a little off. I experienced the same problems as others with commands. The standard settings send the command for too long and it causes the action to be done twice. Left, right, up, and down would all go 2 places instead of one. Pause would pause and then play as if you hit it twice. A few simple adjustments in the harmony software and all will work great. You can tweak how long a signal is sent in the remote software and it will fix the problem. As stated in other reviews the power button is the only one that you don't get with this device. I find though that I am always putting in a movie when I want to use the remote so it's not a big deal for me to turn it on at the unit. As for turning the PS3 off, once you are at the main menu screen on the PS3, you just go all the way to the left and then all the way up on the options and you can select "turn system off". That way you don't have to get up to turn it off.......
Customer Review: Alright Summary: 3 StarsThis thing is just ok on its own - and i would only recommend this if you buy it together with a Harmony One then program the harmony and throw this away - then its great
Customer Review: Works great with my Harmony 880 Summary: 5 StarsWhat a great solution for my Harmony 880.
I followed the advice of another reviewer and changed the response time from 1 to 0 before even trying it. My PS3 works great with the IR commands. I am sooooo happy to have such an easy and inexpensive fix for my home theater!!!
Customer Review: Great with a Harmony Summary: 5 StarsI bought this product about a 6 weeks ago. I don't use the remote itself just the USB IR plugin. I can now use my Harmony universal remote to control the TV, Audio (which already had IR receivers) and the PS3. The only limitation is I cannot use the Harmony to turn on or off the PS3. A small limitation in my mind.
