Video Game Reviews of Eye of Judgment

Customer Review: Addicting. very, very, very addicting.
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this game because a certain computer store was closing its doors in my city. They had everything with 20% off so I only paid about 15 bucks, my wife wanted and it included it the PlayStation eye. We were not supposed to open the game until next week since we are replacing our living room tv, and the new unit is being delivered next week. (Right now my living room sports a 14" CRT that I pillaged from the exercise room). Just like I predicted, my wife didn't want to wait until next week to open it and she begged me to do exactly what I didn't want to do: Play a match using our room TV, and placing the cards on top of the bed. I was reluctant but after her beggapalooza I agreed to play just 1 match just so she could try the game since it was a Monday night and I had to work early. We went to sleep at 2 o clock in the morning and today, I'm sitting in my office shopping for booster packs on the internet. That should tell you if this game is any good or not.

Only 1 gripe and the reason why I took 1 star off: The resolution SUCKS! I have a 52" 1080p LCD. Ranked amongst the top 4 models currently in the market right now so the problem wasn't the TV. Do a search here on amazon and take a look at the TV reviews(LN-T5271F) you'll conclude the TV was not the issue. All my ps3 and blu ray movies look absolutely pristine over HDMI.

Playing the Eye of Judgment and sitting 10 feet away from the TV I COULD NOT READ THE SMALL LETTERS, the ones that tell you why you can't play a certain card in a given move. I checked the box. It advertises 720p. I've been dealing with HD since about 6 years ago and I can tell you. THAT WAS NOT 720p. That was 480p at the most.

Besides that little hiccup, this game is cocaine.

-UPDATE---- Just what I suspected i was not 720p, it was 480p, but this was not the game's fault. It was my fault. My PS3 was configured to display only 1080p and since this game does not support it it reverted all the way down to 480p. After enabling 720p in the video options, problem solved. Now the game looks very good.

Customer Review: Not suitable for rear projection setup
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this game simply for the included hardware. My intent was to use the "eye" as a fun way for my daughter to control some simple children orientated games. The product installed in a snap and seemed to be of very good quality however my initial positive impression was changed once I tried to use it. The inputs seems very slow and any reaction required largely exaggerated movements. I have a dedicated home theater with a rear projector and I assume this is the reason for the very poor performance. I suspect that with a projector beaming light in the direction of the "eye" it makes it too difficult for the device to see the movements. After trying some adjustments I realized it just wouldn't suit my needs and returned it.

Customer Review: whoa! i turned nerdy pretty quick..

So, i was never the type to play card games like dungeons and dragons, and pokemon or whatever the case maybe. The 1st time i saw this game previewed at E3 (video game convention) i was totally amped and very excited to play this game.

When the game was release... i had my doubts. I Wasn't sure if i would learn to like card games or begin to understand it...

Well, i took a chance and used my $50 best buy giftcard and purchased it for Xmas...

And wow!... i'm kicking myself in the @$$ for waiting for so long. The game is fantastic, addictive and it brings video games/card games to another level.

This game is so awesome... my fiance plays it too. Not only does she play it, but she has beaten me 5 out of the 6 times we've played! My friends that i usually play with love it too..

Pros:
Interactive gameplay
A whole new way of playing videogames/card games
graphics are awesome
I bought the game pack which includes the eye and stand, a starter deck and the card pad.
Learning curve is average.
Strategy aspect of it is between good and great.
Characters are awesome

Cons:
Camera can become very sensitive and also very UN-sensitive.
(It appears that the PSeye works well when there is natural light coming into the room. During one of my games, the sun began setting and it was creating shadows from the blinds that hit the card mat. The PSeye then started to act up and had a very hard time reading the cards. I helped the PSeye out by giving it more light when it needed it. I placed a computer lamp by the card mat and turned it on and shined it onto the mat everytime the PSeye had a difficult time. It also helps when you wave your hand across the mat to refresh the camera and enables it to rescan everything. I know it seems like a pain, but having a lamp right next to the card mat works great.)

Customer Review: Great Fun, Tedious Setup
Summary: 3 Stars

The game itself is a blast to play, alone or with others in the room or online. There are a decent amount of cards out there to make a variety of playable decks. The idea of the game is really quite awsome, however the setup is a PITA. the lighting is tricky during the daylight and the camera base is too light. These things can be remedied fairly easily, but just a pain. The card copiers take away from the pure nature but that is another can of worms. I like the concept and the game play and can't wait for new card releases.

Customer Review: Unique and fun game
Summary: 5 Stars

I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and have regularly played it over the past month. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a simple game in your goal (occupy 5 out of the 9 squares) but involves a surprising level of strategy. It's a relatively easy game to learn. Within a couple matches against the computer, I had the basic concepts down and then with each game learned a little bit more as to the strategic elements involved. Similar to what they say about Texas No Limit Poker, the Eye of Judgment takes minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master. The AI is a worthy opponent, and as you improve your own skill level you can also increase the AI's difficulty level. I did initially have a little difficulty with my basement lighting, but a desk lamp is all that was needed to cure this problem. With boosters, theme decks, and expansions, this is a game that will continue to keep your interest. I definitely recommend this game.
