Video Game Reviews of MLB '09Customer Review: Too Hard to Hit and Pitch Summary: 1 StarsSorry but I agree with those who say this game is hard. I just can't get a hit. So, I'm giving up. Plus, it is very hard to get the ball over the plate when pitching. Yet, it's easy to hit a batter. What gives? And there are endless passed balls. I'm giving up on this game. Yet, I so wanted to enjoy it.
Customer Review: Not Perfect that is for sure. Best available ,yes. Summary: 4 StarsI read all kinds of reviews that say this game is perfect and that just is not true, it is a great game though. This is my opinion of the game and I think this review is pretty objective. To start off there is really no beginner difficulty in this game and the sliders don't really seem to do much.I like the difficulty setting but I wish there was a rookie setting because sometimes I want to just have a fun laid back game and relax and enjoy the atmosphere like I could with MVP. This game you really have to be dialed in, which is what they were aiming for.You can really accomplish that in veteran and still have a beginner setting too IMO. However that is not the case so, you might as well just stick it out on veteran and learn how to play the game how it is intended to be played because if you play rookie it is not really any easier and you don't get to use all of the features so you never actually learn how to play this game right. The batting in this game is probably my favorite of any series ever. It is very tight and you can see the actual release of the pitch, no game before this has ever had situational ballplay become such a factor before. You really need to look at the matchups before going into each situation.
My issues with the gameplay are that the fielding sometimes is spotty and 2k9ish . Your player sometimes is frozen for a split second too long or is already leading in the wrong direction, or they set you up with the incorrect person to make a play on the ball in situations where you literally have just a split second to react. The baserunning during a hit or with multiple players on base is very clunky and probably some of the worst I have played. However in the Road to the Show I love the base running. Also the AI sometimes seems like it completely overtakes the game , not just a few situations. Like if I start out beating the crap out of the Computer in the first few innings ,then in the 4th and 5th innings I can pretty much count on my pitches being way off even if I hit the meter 100% (this is around a 56 pitch count so it is not like it is because fatigue) and my players will constantly make huge mistakes that are costly, easy outs will be blown . It really feels at time that this game is doing everything in it's power to screw you. I can deal with a few bad calls by the ump and occasional errors, but I have never seen a MLB player overthrow first all the way into right field when standing 15 feet away from it until I played this game.
The Stadiums are beautiful and the presentation makes the 2k series look laughable. The statistics and scorekeeping are great. There is a ton of content and the Franchise is soo in depth it is insane. This game feels like MLB and it is the best thing out there for baseball fans. I will be purchasing MLB the show 10 on "opening day". Some people will see this as a largely negative review, but I felt that there are alot of things wrong with this game that people have not touched on. Most reviews either say it is the best thing ever or that it sucks because it is too hard. I feel that this game is great and I hope they fix a few things this year, with some minor tweaking and the exclusion of the rubberband AI this game would really be close to perfection.
Customer Review: Awesome gameplay!! Summary: 4 StarsI would give this game five stars except for the online play, it's a little lacking and complex. The time it takes to find and connect with friends cost it a star to me. otherwise Awesome graphics and playability with in room friends. The season mode is great too! Lots of fun!
Customer Review: Best baseball game I've played Summary: 5 StarsThis is by far the best baseball game I've played for PS3 so far, I can't wait for MLB 10 to come out. I will get it right away.
Customer Review: Great value for the price paid! Summary: 4 StarsI have been a baseball fun since I can remember. Being a Venezuelan born person gives you that and I can not stop being impressed about the graphics this game has. I am yet to go through the entire game but so far so good. I know I wont regret having bought this game.
