Video Game Reviews of PlayStation 3 80 GBCustomer Review: Somewhat of a dissapointment.. but its still a working ps3... Summary: 3 StarsI was really excited to pull out my ps3 and start copying all my videos, pictures, and other media and see them on the big screen and also pay some games or maybe even watch a couple of blu ray movies or play some ps2? games? NOT! this version of the console was such a buzzkill to me i thought it was gonna be awesome i thought wrong, FIRST OF ALL the thing i noticed it did not have 4 usb ports it had only 2 AND another thing that really ticked me off is that there are no sd card slots!!! the cover is just stuck there, ouch ANND worst of all it has no ps2 backwards compatibilty... jeez they even took out some of the vents where the console got most hot and they also but shiny gray trim instead of chrome trim now that really ticked me as most of the things except the ps2 compatibility are obtainable via usb or mods I am still really dissapointed about this system. im going to invest in a used 60 gb rather than this dissapointment but hey im lucky enough i got a ps3 :)
Customer Review: Great System Summary: 5 StarsDefinitely does it for me...
I'm 15 years old and well I had a wii, the ps3 out did it 10 fold... Amazing graphics, blu-ray, online, you can't get any better..... I'm not a halo or gears fan.... so I chose some simple games like mgs4 and madden, and oblivion, all classics that I can't put down. Whether your a hardcore gamer or a causal, this is the system for you, I can't get off it. hint: keep it in an open area without dust or just to keep it clean
Customer Review: More than I expected Summary: 5 StarsThe PS3 is more than I expected out of a gaming console. It does everything I need it to do. The only glitch is the lack of backwards compatibility. It would have been nice to play all my PS 1 & 2 games on it also. The blue ray was definitely a good idea on Sonys' part. The first blueray I watched was "Iron Man" and thoroughly enjoyed how the BD transferred the information (especially using the HDMI output).
Customer Review: Freakin' Rocks!! Summary: 5 StarsI bought my PS3 80gb used here on Amazon. Of course I took a risk buying expensive electronics used......but everything was perfect!! I even rec'vd an extra controller and the HDTV Cables. I have been an avid gamer since very young and fell in love with the 360's graphics and game choices. I couldn't really afford buying the PS3 until I saw the great deal for this used system. Now I proudly own both consoles and couldn't be happier. Besides, it'll be nice to have a system that won't have a hardware failure every six months!! Also, I'm not worried of being locked out of game exclusives anymore!! I ended up paying $260 for the entire system. Figures, Sony just announced the price drop to $299 but this was unknown when purchased. System was in MINT condition!! I would Def recommend getting a used PS3, pending on sellers feedback, of course!
Customer Review: PS3 - load/Insert Disc issue after only 45 days of use. Summary: 1 StarsHey all, Since people get really heated about their consoles, be it a xbox360, wii, or what I purchased, a ps3, I want you to know this is coming from someone who is not a major game player. I am just an average guy who wanted a reliable entertainment console for my family and myself. After much deliberation between the PS3 and the Xbox360, I chose the PS3 because it was more of an all around entertainment console and even though it did have not a great library of games, I was fine with that since I am a very casual gamer and reliability mattered more due to the RROD issues that xbox360 users were experiencing. Well, after 45 days, the disc player stopped loading into the PS3 console. I am in the process of sending this into Sony for repair since it's still under warranty. This is the first time I have ever done this for any electronics. Every electronic product has it's failure issues. But a product should not have these issues after only 45 days. For this, I am rating this one stars for now. But I will see how Sony handles my claim and honors their warranty and update if needed. In hind site, I see now that all these console are pretty much the same be it a RROD issue or Disc read/load issue. But what matters most is how the company supports and stands behind their products. Microsoft has 3 years of part/labor for their xbox systems and Sony only has 1. Protect yourself and get the xbox360, even if it does break, MS will fix it fast and for free. I know this because all my friends have xbox360. I am the only one who opted for the PS3..:)Serves me right. Also, if you are weighing in that the technology is better for ps3. Think of it this way, what good is the technology if you can't user it? MS may have created bad systems, but they have created way more efficient ones now with the Jasper chipset and they stand behind all thier old ones, which speaks volumes about the company. Hope that helps. Take care. Ethan.
Update 12/1/2009 - I received the PS3 back after two weeks from SONY and it has been working since. I have since enjoyed this console immensely. I am hoping this it holds up another couple of years. I would change this rating to 4 stars, but can not. thanks.
