As advertised, I was able to insert my PS2 memory card into the adapter, plug in into my PS3 (you need a USB cable - does not come with one - the one for your controller will do the trick), and immediately the PS3 recognized it. I saved all of my PS2 games on to the hard drive of my 60gb PS3.

I dont think this will work on the 40 gig models. they cant play any ps2 games, besides i go for the FUTURE. leave those old games behind me...Customer Review: Only need it once

This works like it's supposed to. You created little "internal" 8mb memory cards on your PS3 hard drive, and then copy over all of your PS2 data with this onto that hard drive. However, there is nothing keeping you from going the Best Buy for this, copying over the information, and then returning the adapter. There is no need to have this after initially copying over the information. Unless you are really concerned about giving your game save info to as many PS3 owning friends as possible, which you should have a USB key for anyway.
Buy it, use it, return it. That simple, doesn't cost anything.

The concept is terribly simple: Copy your PS2 memory card data onto your PS3 by creating "virtual" cards on the PS3. Presto! You now have all your save data from PS2 games on your PS3.
This is indispensable for those of us who like to go back and play PS2 games (why get rid of them if they were good?), and especially important for games that look for past save information to give you freebies and such.
The adapter and instructions couldn't be easier. If you have PS2 games, get this.
