Video Game Reviews of Resistance 2

Customer Review: Resistance 2 - kid stuff
Summary: 2 Stars

Playable - but not great by a longshot.

Very simplistic controls, Energy Weapons imo are boring here and in Fallout 3, seems like a game for younger gamers, not adults, green goo, no gore and little memorable animation of weapon strikes.

Rented this game for 5 dollars for five days, played through the whole game in 3, little replay value. Boring, repetitive. And you are supposed to be fighting 'frightening alien invaders'. Never was I surprised, or frightened even once. They look like goofy cartoon aliens a teenager would draw. Again - Deadspace would be the obvious recommendation IMO if you want to shoot at something that is a frightening alien.

There is no comparison in complexity of controls / replayability /graphics quality (1080p not 720p- which is a huge difference - actually 1080p is DOUBLE the clarity / information of 720p if you didn't know, but you won't see it unless you have a real 1080p monitor).

Very much overhyped, visuals were ok, not amazing like a killzone 2, DeadSpace, Fallout 3. So generally would be very disappointed if I had purchased.

Customer Review: not great
Summary: 3 Stars

I loved Resistance, I played it on all difficulty levels, got all the bonus awards. I can't wait to start the resistance 2, but it is not as good as the first one. So, if you are fan of the first one, may just rent the 2nd one, I can't imagine I will play it again.

1. graphic is not good as the first one. I have to turn the LCD all the way up on brightness and contrast to see, my normal setting, the other soliders looks like a glob of color, I can't really tell.

2. the story line is not as good as the first one.

3. 2 guns? running out the bullets all the time, no fun.

Customer Review: Love it !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Best game ever played. The actual game was ok, but online is where the fun begins. First real online game I've played and can't get enough.

Customer Review: Decent, but not worth the hype
Summary: 3 Stars

I rented this game mainly because I heard good things about the online co-op splitscreen mode and I thought it could be enjoyable to play with my girlfriend.

Graphics: The first thing I noticed was that camera views in splitscreen mode were extremely hard to follow. The black bars placed on the sides of the screen really shrank the viewing area and I had to sit pretty close to the screen to follow the movement. I know this is supposed to be a necessity due to the 16:9 aspect ratio but modern titles like Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead can handle it just fine. The next thing I noticed was the lack of graphical detail in comparison to other modern shooters. The textures just seemed cartoonish and the colors were vibrant but lacked depth. However, the movement was very fluid and there weren't any significant framerate issues.

Gameplay: We found the massive co-op battles to be pretty fun to play with other people, but after a while it got pretty repetitive. Online co-op is devoid of any real plot or music which takes away from the immersiveness of the experience. Like most traditional shooters, there is no cover system, the characters seem to run faster than their legs can move and they continue to run even when pushed up against a solid object. The enemies do not instill any kind of fear in you at all and they seem more like mindless, moving sprites than fearsome aliens. I didn't feel any sense of reward by killing them and after I while I just felt like I was pointing my gun and holding the trigger down. Perhaps the worst offense is that the 2nd player in co-op mode doesn't gain any experience at all and has to start over at level 1 every time you start the game up. I was quickly advancing in level while my girlfriend was frustrated that she was not making any progress at all.

Overall, Resistance 2 is a good game for fans of traditional FPSs (which seem to be coming to an end), but if you've been spoiled by realistic gameplay mechanics in modern shooters like GoW2 you may want to pass.

Customer Review: One step forward, 2 steps back..
Summary: 2 Stars

Graphics look pixelated at 1080p. In fact Resistance 1 graphics on 1080p look excellent - why comprimise on the visuals in RFOM2?

Game play is fast and exciting.

Weapons use is limited - again why go backwards from RFOM?

Looks like this project was rushed to "print" so they could make a quick buck. If only they could have spent the proper time making this game, rendering the graphics properly..it would have been killer.

But as the game stands on a 42" 1080p monitor, its pure pixel hell. Even when shooting from the alien gun - you can clearly see pixels all the way through as you follow the shot to the target. Ughhhhh...

Returned after 2 days.
