Video Game Reviews of Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote

Customer Review: Extremely useful and easy to use!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this remote so that my wife and I did not have to use up the charge on our controllers when we were watching Blu-ray or dvds. It works great. Once we got used to the buttons and menus, it makes watching movies much easier!!

Customer Review: This remote works on PS3
Summary: 5 Stars

It works well with my PS3. Do follow the instructions for set up, though--you can't just turn on and use immediately.

Customer Review: great... some problems to connect initially but resolved!
Summary: 4 Stars

The remote control is great and very useful.

But the instructions on the manual how to pair with PS3 did't work.

Customer Review: generally works well
Summary: 4 Stars

It was a little hard to set up, but once it was set up, it has been working great and is much better than using the controller as the remote!

Customer Review: Very Poor Button Layout-PS3 Remote
Summary: 1 Stars

The button placement on this remote is very poor: Normal remotes place the PLAY button BETWEEN the STOP and PAUSE buttons.

Not Sony.

The PS3 remote stacks all three buttons vertically, with the PLAY at the top, STOP in the middle, and PAUSE at the bottom.

All three buttons are shaped the same, and there is no way to distinguish between them.

The remote is not back-lit.

The lack of back-lighting, tactile feel, and poor button layout means that the STOP button is easily pressed when you really wanted PLAY--so you get to wait another 5 minutes while the movie (re)loads, and watch all the "commercials" AGAIN.

Very, Very, Frustrating.

There is no POWER button. Instead, you must press the Playstation button, then cycle through various PS3 menus and find/select "turn PS3 off".

The PS3 remote epitomizes why Sony continues to lose market share: poorly designed products at elevated prices. It was probably designed by the same Sony engineer who located the Power button for the PS2 on the BACK OF THE CONSOLE--you had to blindly reach BEHIND the PS2 to power up or down the console. Dumb.
