Video Game Reviews of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six VegasCustomer Review: If you go to Vegas Bring a Gun Summary: 4 StarsThis is the most fun I have had in the Tom Clancy universe in a long time. I remeber the original rainbow six and to be honest the is the one game that brings it back. This was a repurchase for me. I had this game before and traded it for Graw 2 but I found that I missed the action and pacing of this game. You really have to think about how to attack a room or situation. The visuals are still tight considering the age of the game. The sound is remarkable, and the fights are intense.
The plot moves along nicely it is a little predicitable toward the end still works. A little warning though if you have'nt picked up the sequel yet do so. (trust me). The next time you land in Vegas bring your gun and your witts. You will need it.
Customer Review: Ehhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Summary: 1 StarsI originally purchased and played through (and am still playing through) Vegas 2, and I absolutely love it. Vegas 1 was a huge let down after playing # 2. The graphics are fuzzy, even on my flat screenm which means I struggle to see the terrorists at long distances, but they still see me. And with two different discs (I have tried two different copies) the snake cam has failed to work (which is a vital part of regular game play). I am done with this game and will just stick with Vegas 2 which is by far my favorite shooter.
Customer Review: Terrible Game Don't Buy Summary: 1 StarsThis game looks like it was made for PS2 not PS3. The graphics are muddy and blurry. It is impossible to see more than a few feet. The AI is stupid at best. I don't understand where the good reviews for this game are coming from. Have these people played this game. I feel jipped.
Customer Review: A Great Tactical FPS. Summary: 4 StarsThis was one of the first titles I bought for the PS3. I had played some of the other Rainbow Six games, but I never really enjoyed them that much. Then this game came along and now I'm a lifetime fan of the series. This game added a cover system to the table, and wow that made a difference. The cover system has now been adopted by a lot of games since. It's smooth and it really helps the overall play of the title. There are awesome co op modes. You can play through the campaign with some buddies, or try some terrorist hunts. I love terrorist hunts. I would have liked a respawn feature, when you get killed by a spawning enemy. That was fixed in RSV 2. The graphics are pretty well done. They could've been crisper and had a little more detail, but they didn't distract from the amazing game play.
Presentation- The menus are pretty standard, the music is where this title comes into its own. The music just has an epic quality I can't explain. There is an annoying feature though. When you're in the helicopter flying over the city and you have to wait to repel down. This does show some nice visuals of Vegas, but it gets annoying waiting to get into the action. 4/5
Graphics- As I stated above the graphics are overall rather well done. They're not amazing by any standard, but they don't distract from the fun. 4/5
Game play- The cover system has added a lot of fun to the series. Being able to take cover and switch cover smoothly is a big advancement. Also the AI themselves are pretty smart. They also have some of the funniest phrases in video game history. The terrorist hunts though sometimes frustrating are a lot of fun. 5/5
Story- I played the campaign through co op, so I got none of the story. I refuse to rate this section.
Lasting Appeal- This game will be fondly remembered for a long time. I love to this day to play terrorist hunts with my cousin. The online is also pretty smooth, with few glitches or issues. 5/5
The Verdict- This was a great first installment in the Vegas franchise. It only got better in the second. The terrorist hunts were challenging and a lot of fun. The graphics and a few other problems hurt this title, but not enough to keep it from being a worthy title. Overall a great game and should be picked up at this low price. 4.5/5
Customer Review: Unplayable - Unless You Like Headaches Summary: 1 StarsThere is no need for a long review of this game...It is simply UNPLAYABLE. The graphics are so unbelievably BAD that it gave me headaches every time I tried to play it. Looking down a street you can't even tell a bad guy from a trash can and it's not because they are using the trash can for cover! It's because of inexcusably HORRIBLE GRAPHICS for a PS3 game.
I've read where you have to go into the PS3 menu and modify video output settings to clean up the screen...But why bother? This is a PS THREE system, not a circa 90s PS ONE, so I don't expect to deal with "PC Load Letter" type problems when I install a game. I also didn't invest in a 1080 flat screen so I can manually dumb down the video output on the PS3 to 720...HOWEVER, I went the extra mile and DID change the output to 720 expecting the screen to "clear up"...Mine DIDN'T. This game was a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY and for that reason I can not give it anything more than 1 star (since Amazon doesn't allow ZERO star reviews).
The only reason I can think of to play this game is if you've already played EVERY OTHER shooter on the PS3...Then you'd better have a bottle of Tylenol next to you.
